Last month we had booked a trip to visit Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. We had also scheduled a Pilots’n’Paws rescue flight on the way home to bring a German Shepherd back from South Carolina to the the D.C. metro area. Unfortunately Hurricane Florence had other plans, and our whole trip was canceled. When a natural disaster hits, there are usually many animals that need to be transported to new locations. So last weekend when the same rescue organization reached out about a couple puppies needing to be moved from a post hurricane area, we jumped at the chance to help out. Keep reading to learn more about our flight path that day (and for some really cute puppy pics!)

Discover Disney's Vero Beach Resort: Our Relaxing DVC Trip Review!
Last year we had booked our first trip to visit Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort but unfortunately the property completely shut down due to a hurricane. This year we booked a reservation for the second time and once again a hurricane threatened the area. (Perhaps the third try will be the charm?) We still really wanted to get away for a few days and last weekend frantically tried to figure out an alternative solution. Walt Disney World was pretty booked up due to the Food & Wine festival but we were able to find point availability at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. This Disney Vacation Club location is a little under two hours away from the Walt Disney World resort so honestly we had never considered visiting before. But the last minute switch ended up being quite the happy accident. Read on to hear more about what we thought about this beautiful beach resort with touches of Disney magic.

Most kids grow up fairly familiar with Winnie the Pooh and friends, either by reading the books or watching the Disney cartoons. That silly old bear was always a favorite of Julie's and here's a fun fact for you: Andrew's brother is actually named Christopher Robin (awww). When we were invited to an early screening of Disney's new Christopher Robin movie of course we had to go. We couldn't wait to see how these characters would translate to the live screen and were also curious to see what happens in the next chapter when Christopher Robin grows up.
